How Serious Is Justin Bieber’s Facial Paralysis?

After Justin’s facial paralysis came to light, many experts posted videos giving details about its severity.

Dr. Rupa Wong, in her video titled Eye Doctor, Explains Justin Bieber’s Facial Paralysis discussed how harmful it could be for one’s eye, referring to Justin not being able to blink one of his eyes. She explained that the virus that causes Chickenpox is the one that causes Ramsay Hunt syndrome. According to her, the virus remains dormant after you have Chickenpox and can reactivate due to stress, medications, and lower immunity systems.

She further revealed that the virus attacks the facial nerves near the ear that may cause swelling. Initially, one may experience severe pain in the ear and painful blisters in the ear, mouth, or tongue. Facial paralysis may cause difficulty in closing the eyes and mouth. This may cause one to lose one’s hearing ability and experience vertigo. She supported Justin’s decision to cancel his tour as she stated that it might have been difficult for him to sing, eat, or speak.
